Theater Educating Students (by) Team Success
Through our TESTS program, youth learn all the basic life-skills courses while having lots of fun. The youth are given a list of topics and then choose which ones they want to "study". By study, I mean developing skits to perform and including words, music, and performance. Before this is done however, the youth research and learn more about the topic; then we have in-class discussions so that they have a better understanding of the topic they chose.
Past Performances have included:
Juneteenth - Could it happen today?
The Reality of Teen Suicide
Coolness and Peer Pressure
Order in the Court - Foster Youth Speak Out
The Hidden Tragedy of Child Abuse
Employment - What Not To Do!
Often, our youth are asked to perform these skits in front of other youth. TESTS has been facilitated at schools, community events, and youth events. We have even performed for Chamber of Commerce adult audiences. One of our greatest achievements is when Aaron Boyce and five students were invited to perform in Washington, DC for an annual youth conference. There were over 2000 people at this event.
